Concept Note

Le Moulin de la Galette is a recreation of French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. As I was inspired by the painting which depicts a typical Sunday afternoon at the original Moulin de Gallate in the district of Montmartre in Paris. In the late 19th-century working class, Parisian would dress up and spend their time dancing, drinking, and eating 'Galettes' in the evening, and so I tried to capture the glimpse and recreate it in my version, Where the figures are deformed and reconstructed in a style which has not seen before. Painted in Impasto and Al- prima technique giving me gestural brushwork. Which also gives a creamy surface to the painting.

ABOUT ARTIST

Satyajeet Pandere was born in 1997. A visual artist living and working in Mumbai, India. Pandere completed his Bachelors in Fine Arts from L.S.Raheja School of Arts, Bandra, Mumbai in 2019 and Foundation from Thane School of Arts, Maharashtra in 2015. In his academic years, he has participated in various workshops, seminars, artists’ talk exhibitions. He has been practicing in contemporary and neo-expressionism art and is gradually developing, with a mindset of presenting the unseen on every new canvas. A seeker for new ways of reforming the elements of nature and human figures. He works primarily with the impasto application of Oil paints as he has specialized in oils. Also, he has mastered many other mediums. His drawings on paper and other mediums are antithetical to his works on canvas. He is keen to create something rebellious, resistant, and solidified. With a focus on a subject that leads to complexities and the allegory of the human condition.
